It is estimated that 3,000 illegal immigrants in Europe are homeless. A further 7,000 are forced to live in makeshift shacks often without any running water. In 2001, twenty North African immigrants who were working illegally in spain were found living in a space 6m by 5m. The nearest running water was 4 km away.
